Dar es Salaam inajengwa kwa kasi kubwa sana. Kila mahali unapokwenda kuna shughuli kedekede za ujenzi zinaendelea. Sekta hii imekuwa ikiajiri vijana wengi sana. Pengine ingefaa taasisi kama NSSF kujaribu kutafuta wanachama miongoni mwao ili kukuza zaidi mfuko huo na wakati huohuo kuwawekea vijana hawa akiba ya baadaye. Maana ni kazi ambayo inaambatana na hatari nyingi, na ni kazi ambayo mtu anaweza kufanya mpaka katika umri fulani tu.

Hata hivyo, hilo silo nililotaka kutafakari kwa siku ya leo. Leo natafakari kuhusu ujenzi wa mabondeni. Kinapofika kipindi cha mvua kama hiki tulicho nacho ndipo tunakumbuka kuhusu hatari za ujenzi wa mabondeni, na wanasiasa wetu viongozi nao utawasikia ‘hameni, mtasombwa na mafuriko’. Lakini inapofika wakati wa jua kali, tunasahau. Hatusikii kelele hizo. Nadhani ipo haja kwa mamlaka zinazohusika kuchukua hatua za makusudi kabisa kuzuia ujenzi katika maeneo ya mabonde. Dar es Salaam bado ni kubwa na ikibidi mipaka yake inaweza kupanuliwa hadi Bagamoyo, Kibaha, Kisarawe na Mkuranga.

Ujenzi mabondeni una athari nyingi, siyo ya mafuriko tu, bali pia ndiyo maeneo ya mazalia ya mbu. Mara nyingi huwa tunasema kwamba mbu ndiyo wanaoeneza malaria, lakini tunasahau kwamba binadamu pia anaeneza malaria. Maana kama sote tutajitahidi kujikinga dhidi ya mbu, hakuna atakayeambukizwa malaria. Mbu wanaomwuma mtu mwenye malaria ndiyo wanaoipeleka malaria au vimelea vya malaria kwa mwingine asiye na vimelea hivyo. Kwa mantiki hiyo binadamu pia ni waenezaji wa malaria.

Tunaoishi mabondeni … tufanye hima tuhamie maeneo ya juu. Visenti vyetu tunavyotaka kuweka kwenye majengo, tuvihamishie katika maeneo yaliyo salama zaidi.
