Same point … different times
It’s close to 11 in the morning.
It’s a few minutes past 5 in the evening.
TAZARA area. According to City by-laws no one is allowed to trade in the area. Sometimes one wonders … we set up laws and by-laws … I trust it’s for the general good of the entire community … BUT … when it comes to enforcement of those laws … it only happens when there are no immediate elections in sight! Are there times for enforcing laws and times for not doing so? This area is just one among hundreds in the City of Dar es Salaam. While I want people to work and earn a living … this has to happen within the laws of the land … within good frameworks … as it seems things are getting out of control … Dar and other major cities and towns of the country are slowly being turned into open markets … and what do people sell … cheap goods from some countries in the far east. Well, no one denies that far and near east countries are our friends … but I’m just disgusted by the flooding of our market by these cheap goods … goods that should be manufactured within the country here … so that people trade in what they produce. These cheap goods do not help build the general economy of our country … they only siphon hard-earned foreign exchange that the country obtains after selling coffee, sisal, minerals and … you name it. CHANGE.
