Below is a structure, a bridge on the Tanzania-Zambia Railway line (TAZARA), located at Kazimzumbwi village in Kisarawe, Tanzania. There are many more similar and beautiful structures along this line. It is one of the most complex structures ever built in post-independent Africa.

Reflecting on this structure, several thoughts come to mind, some of which include:

1. This is a great work of art

2. It is beautiful.

3. It is an important economic structure.

4. Thousands, if not millions, derive their livelihoods by the existence of this structure.

However, letting it reach the state it has reached cannot be justified by any explanation, however strong it might be. This is a wake-up call. Let’s strengthen what we have before we move into other things. Let’s not allow decay to descent over what we have at hand. Amen.
