Dar Sun-Set on First Day of 2008
It’s 6.30 pm. 1st January 2008. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Even though there is a hanging cloud, still hope stands in golden beams, our hopes will never be shattered, come whatever may, winning we shall win.
The sad cloud around our neighbours will not take away our hope for a better future around us, near us and far from us. Many have let their blood fill the streets, flowing towards justice, true justice, shoot at us they will always do, they will never stop attacking us, but we will never stop advancing our hope, dreaming of a better world.
They will rule by state organs, it’s our bodies they are going to chain, but never our minds and souls, never. We will always be US. They will never take away our true identities. In solidarity we will stand from our holes, our homes, our towns, wherever these may be around the globe.
The hanging cloud over the golden horizon will never shatter away our dream, freedom dream, dream of freedom, true freedom, true democracy. The gun will never stop us. Unless a seed dies, it will never yield. So 124 heroes and heroines have fallen so that we may reap true yields, huge yields, yields of success, unity, joy and respect. Solidarity forever.
